Which advisory platforms actually ship AI

There's a lot of noise about AI in adviser software. Read what each vendor actually publishes on its own site and the picture gets much plainer.

Of the five main planning and portfolio platforms, two ship no AI at all, two publish what their AI costs, and one gives basic AI away free but only to its own clients.

We read every figure below on the vendor's own pages in August 2026, and Hazel's again in September 2026. If a vendor doesn't publish something, we say so instead of guessing.

The short version

PlatformShips AI?Price published?
Altruist HazelYesYes, $60 to $300 per seat a month
RightCapital IrisYesYes, included above a tier
Orion DenaliYes, in layersBasic free, rest quote-only
eMoneyNo named AI productNo prices published at all
MoneyGuideNoYes, $2,000 to $3,000 a year

Altruist Hazel

It's the only one here that publishes a straightforward per-seat price. Its pricing page shows Hazel Platform at $60, the Tax Planning Agent at $160 and the Financial Planning Agent at $300, per seat per month. No annual prices are shown. Fourteen-day free trial.

You don't have to custody with Altruist. Their words: made for all firms, no matter where you custody. That's unusual, because most adviser AI only works if you're already someone's client.

Hazel's base product, which its site calls both Admin AI and the Hazel Platform, captures meetings, emails, life events and account updates, and drafts follow-ups and recaps. The Tax Planning Agent takes tax documents and builds a draft plan, models Roth conversions and withdrawal strategies, and drafts a client letter.

⚠️ The Financial Planning Agent launched at the end of August 2026, at $300 a seat a month. It's new, so use the trial before you commit.

RightCapital Iris

Plans are Basic $149.95, Premium $209.95 and Platinum $254.95 per advisor per month, with non-advisor staff seats at $40 each. Fourteen-day trial. The first year carries an annual commitment, so you pay by the month but you're in for the full year.

Iris is included in Premium and Platinum at no extra charge. So for a Basic user, the AI costs an extra $60 a month per advisor, the price of moving up to Premium. Smart Import, which pulls data out of client documents into planning fields, is included from Basic up.

Iris checks plans for data-entry problems and says how each would move the outcome, explains what's causing things like withdrawal spikes, builds options against a target probability of success, and answers plain-language questions about the plan.

It only works on plans inside RightCapital. It won't touch meeting notes, client email or client-record work.

Orion Denali

Denali comes in three layers, and which one you get matters.

  • Powered by Denali. AI inside screens you already use, at no additional cost. Finds information, prepares meetings, reviews accounts, analyzes portfolios, builds reports.
  • Denali Solutions. Coordinated across Orion products, customized per firm. No published price.
  • Denali AI. Orchestrated across the whole firm, aimed at the back office. Launched February 2026. No published price.

🔑 The free tier has two catches. You have to be an Orion client, and the included AI is live in Redtail, their client-record system, with other products to follow. If you don't use Redtail, the free layer largely isn't there yet. Orion also says the top tier is still being evaluated internally, so some of their own clients can't get it.

Orion says its outputs "are reviewed for accuracy and appropriateness by financial professionals in all cases." That's their wording, and it's a good rule to follow.

eMoney and MoneyGuide: no AI of their own

eMoney publishes no named AI product. The homepage, the product comparison, the Premier page and the CoPlanner page contain no mention of AI or artificial intelligence. A site search returns one item, and it's a research report about the industry.

CoPlanner analyzes client data and suggests planning strategies, and eMoney claims it reduces plan-building time. eMoney doesn't call that AI, and neither will we. eMoney doesn't publish prices either. All four tiers are quote-only.

MoneyGuide publishes no AI feature of its own. Homepage, product page and pricing page carry none. Its news page does carry a third-party AI integration, so you can get AI into MoneyGuide, just from someone else. It does publish prices, per advisor per year: MoneyGuide $2,000, Wealth Studios $2,500, Platform $3,000, with add-ons from $400 to $739.

Envestnet, which owns MoneyGuide, announced AI work in May 2026, but that's for its enterprise data platform, which isn't something a five-person firm buys.

What about your custodian?

Schwab runs a named program, Advisor AI in Action, with monthly webcasts and in-person summits for its advisers, plus a paid executive course run with Stanford. It also published its own study of adviser AI adoption in January 2026. If you custody there, see what it covers before you pay anybody else.

⚠️ It's easy to miss, though: AI is almost absent from Schwab's main adviser marketing. The homepage, the Why Schwab section and the technology pages carry no mention of it. Ask your relationship manager for the link instead of hunting for it.

What we'd take from this

  • Check what tier you're on before anything else. With RightCapital, the AI comes with a higher tier. With Orion, it depends which of their systems you use.
  • If you're on MoneyGuide, stop waiting. There's nothing to switch on. Any AI in your planning work is going to come from somewhere else.
  • If you're on eMoney, look at CoPlanner. It's come with every eMoney package since March 25, 2026 and suggests planning moves. eMoney doesn't call it AI, but it's already yours.
  • Hazel is the only one you can buy without changing platforms, at a published price, on a trial. That makes it the cheapest way to find out whether any of this helps you.
  • Read the conditions on anything free. Orion's free layer requires you to be their client and use their client-record system.

Want this done for everything you run?

The audit covers every system you run: what you already pay for and aren't using, what sits one tier up and what it costs, what's worth buying, and what to leave alone.
